Illustrating a book cover

Let me tell you, illustrating a book cover is harder than I thought. And I thought it was going to be very hard. Yeah. In 2 hours I managed to get it... 30% done. I don't even know. 
At least I already knew what I was going to draw. I guess that's... good? 
But seriously, I have never painted realistic eyes or noses... well, people before and it's... damn, no one told me what I was getting myself into.
I keep looking at tutorials on youtube and... I'm not even a quarter as good as those people. But i promised this person I'd help them with a book cover, so I'm not going to break my promise.
Anyone have tips on how to paint realistic eyes and noses? (well, lips too... I haven't gotten that far yet)
I mean, the eyes look decent, but still. They're supposed to look REAL. And they don't. Stupid eyelashes. Why do we have them anyway 
Ahem. Sorry for complaining. I'll just get back to work now.

Oh, I also want to rant about the game. It was really cool, and if you are into gaming, you should really check it out. Yeah, it's kinda gory and stuff(well, more like full on gory) but it's really cool. I finished it in a weekend because I just couldn't stop playing it. That's how awesome it is.

Oops...

Well, I think I kinda overdid it. What did I overdo? Read on!
So, I had 2 Secret Santa drawings I had to do. And I did them. I spent about 3 hours yesterday and another half hour today. That isn't much. But coupled with the other 6 DRAWINGS I did, it adds up to about, I dunno, 8 hours of drawing.
I started the Secret Santa things yesterday, I finished one of them, and then I remembered that today is the first day of Bubbline week. And seeing as my scanner doesn't work anymore, I had to finish most of them now so I could go and get them scanned. My original plan was to draw 2, maybe 3 of the 7 drawings. Now I have 6, and I am kinda surprised I managed to stop myself from drawing the last one, too.
The pain in my thumb might have helped, though.
So, right now, I have a thumb injury. And it's probably gonna take days until it will stop hurting. Ugh, this is why I don't draw that often. When I start, I can't stop. It's addictive.
Damn it.
Ok, now I'm gonna go see Anna Karenina. When I come back, I will post new stuff.
